Brain Wave Robot
I designed and built a robot that uses two brainwave sensors to control the movement of two pens, creating a collaborative and introspective experience. Participants wore the sensors, observed the robot's movement, and engaged in a conversation while reflecting on their own brain activity and what might be happening in the other person's mind. The social experiment aspect added a unique layer of interaction during art shows, as people explored the connection between thought and movement.
The robot was constructed with a belt-driven turntable made from CNC-machined MDF parts. An aluminum extrusion acted as a linear rail for two independent 3D printed pen carriages, both driven by stepper motors. The electronics consisted of brainwave sensors, a Raspberry Pi, and an Arduino with a stepper motor shield, all working together to bring this interactive art piece to life.
