Sphere-o-bot

During my time as an Artist-in-Residence at the Children's Museum of Houston, I developed the Sphere-O-Bot, a 2-axis CNC machine designed to draw on spherical surfaces like ping pong balls and eggs. This project was created for a workshop where kids could learn about motorized machines by building their own.

Based on a 3D-printable Sphere-O-Bot design, my version utilized laser-cut parts for a cleaner design and faster production. It also featured an integrated electronics bay for storing the wires, microcontrollers, and motor drivers. This hands-on project not only introduced kids to the fundamentals of CNC machines but also sparked their curiosity about digital fabrication and robotics.
